Scion Centrifugal SuperCharger

HOW ABOUT PERFORMANCE?

During design, the ability to configure and match several components of the centrifugal supercharger (compressor, pressure ratio and boost) to intake volume and intake manifold tuning allows the engineer to tune the performance attributes of the supercharger to specific vehicle requirements.

The centrifugal supercharger system has, traditionally, a performance curve that is directly proportional to engine rpm and provides a linear building of power. A centrifugal system is able to exceed the peak power potential of other boosting systems with excellent driveability, performance and less impact on fuel economy.

A compressor bypass valve incorporated in the system allows smooth operation at idle or part throttle conditions by relieving unwanted supercharger pressure at low speeds and reducing heat build-up.

Helical cut supercharger drive gears, as opposed to straight cut gears, significantly reduce gear noise to a sporting hum. It still has a supercharged sound, but without intrusive noise.

WHAT ABOUT THE DURABILITY?

The centrifugal supercharger system’s characteristic of progressive and linear power addition (over the naturally aspirated engine) allows for peak power targets to be achieved without overwhelming drivetrain components such as transmissions, driveshafts, clutches and rear axle assemblies.

The maintenance-free supercharger lubrication system uses engine oil that is pre-filtered and injected directly onto the drive gears. This type of lubrication has been proven to be the best, even under sustained boost conditions.

The system is covered by the remainder of the Toyota 5 year/60,000 mile warranty when installed by a Scion dealer and is emissions legal in all 50 states.
